L&M Law Group was founded in March 2024 by Andrew Morris and D. Christopher LaPee. They spent years on opposite sides of the courtroom before realizing they shared the same mission.
Andy saw firsthand, as a public defender, how the system could overwhelm people who didn’t have aggressive advocacy in their corner. Chris saw, as a prosecutor, exactly how the state builds cases and how to dismantle them.
Together, they created a firm built on a simple promise: every client gets the same relentless defense, transparent communication, and genuine respect. No matter the charge.

Andrew T. Morris
Co-Founder & Managing PartnerAndy’s path to criminal defense was anything but conventional. After earning his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Missouri in 2009, he spent years working in research, biotech, and business before answering the call to law. He earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2014 and went straight into the trenches as a public defender.
Those years as a public defender shaped everything about how Andy practices law today. He saw how the system treats people who can’t fight back. He decided to make sure every client has someone who will. In March 2024, he co-founded L&M Law Group to do exactly that.
Outside the courtroom, Andy is a devoted father of two and a musician who brings the same creative problem-solving to his legal strategy that he does to his music.
D. Christopher LaPee
Co-Founder & PartnerChris’s legal career reads like a masterclass in criminal law from every angle. A graduate of St. Louis University High School, he earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University–Bloomington before attending the University of Missouri School of Law.
After law school, Chris cut his teeth as a defense attorney, then made a pivotal move: he crossed the aisle to serve as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. That experience gave him an insider’s understanding of how prosecutors think, build cases, and decide what charges to bring. It’s an advantage he now uses every single day on behalf of his clients.
From there, Chris spent time in family and civil law before specializing in DWI defense at a dedicated DWI firm. That deep expertise led him to co-found L&M Law Group in 2024. He lives in Ballwin with his family and brings the same meticulous preparation to every case.
